Clear Creek Canyon

Tetanus Crag

This crag is located about 100 yards down the road (toward Golden) from the main parking area for the Highwire Crag, Highlander, River Wall and Wall of Justice, which is just east of Tunnel 2. Going up the canyon there is a "SPEED LIMIT 40" sign at the end of the last turn before the pullout. The Tetanus Crag is hidden in the trees on the south side of the road just across from this sign. Approach is 1 minute or less. A very short trail begins just right of some large boulders next to the road. The area has a surprisingly secluded feeling considering how close to the road it is. There is all kinds of junk buried at the base of the rock, from the ruins of an old shack, so don't let your dog dig up something poisonous (old batteries, e.g.). At this time there is only one route here.

Start just right of the large right facing corner. Climb a dark face until it is possible to move out left onto the overhanging panel of gold rock. This fun climb gets progressively more difficult and has an exciting finish. The only drawback is some questionable rock in the midsection. All bolt protected.
